FAQ for Kavi and Kaviyitri
1. How much kavitas can I submit?
Currently, we are restricting the limit to 2. Depending on the entries,
we will have to restrict to only 1 but we will publish them later and we will
include your kavitas later.
2. What are the categories?
You can submit your kavita ( Vinodi, Prem, Nisarga,Haiku etc ).We will accomodate it.
3. Is there any Prize?
All the attendees will vote. The one with most vote will get $51. Second Prize will get $21
All the poets will have their poems published. There is no prize for Kids Kavya Sammelan.
4. Can me and my friend register together?
We would love to see you register seperately but if that works for you, please go ahead.
Also remember that when you go to others house, the cost will be much more than
independantly wantching at your own home. Consider the driving cost, cooking/gift cost etc.
5. Is there any limit on length of words?
300.
6. What If I cannot recite my kavita (for xyz reason)?
We will recite your Kavitas. You will have to let us know.
7. Are you going to put photos or video while we are reciting live?
Currently, we can planning to put photos. But if you are comfortable, we can have you live on the
video too.
8. Who are the Kavi's and Kaviyitris?
There are some very good marathi poets amongst us. Here is our way to give exposure to North American Marathi Poets.
9. Can I read another(father, Mother, Aaji etc) kavi's kavita?
You have to read your own kavita. If you have legal rights to those kavitas (which you have to prove),
then you can read that kavita. If you have published anywhere else, and there is no legal binding on you,
then you can read your own kavitas.
10. How will you choose the kavitas OR is there any editorial control?
We will have a rehearsal in the last week before the actual Kavya sammelan. During that rehearsal, we will have a voting process.
So you will be voted in/out by your peers. Besides the voting process, the organizers have complete control over what content is
to be published. We want this forum to be completely family friendly and any offensive poems will not be published and we would not even communicate with you.
11. My mother/father are visiting from India and they want to sing/recite their kavitas. Can they do it?
Absolutely. They can do it.
12. What is last date to submit kavita?
April 23,2010 is the last date to submit the kavita. We request you to register as soon as possible and then send the kavita.
Since this is a free event, we expect the registrations to be full soon.
13. Where can I send my kavita and what is to be send alongwith it?
Each kavita should have
A. Name of kavita
B. Poets name or pseudonym
C. Category
D. Bal Kavya Sammelan or North America Marathi Online Kavya Sammelan
E. photo or if you want live video of yourself, you will have to let us know

General FAQ's
1. Why online Kavya sammelan?
The distances are great in US and Canada. Even though we may want to attend, it is not possible because of our work commitments family commitments etc. Also we want you to experience it yourselves, the highs, the lows of actual Kavya sammelan. We want to replicate the experience.
2. Fee seems to be little bit low/high
For a family of 2 (we presume husband and wife would be listening), price of 5.99 dollars is reasonable. We do not want you to miss the experience of connecting with your own people and having fun.
3. Why are you doing this?
We want to provide a platform to our own marathi poets.We want to have our cultural ties renewed.
The only way is to keep on engaging in activities like these. Besides we enjoy this, so this is total fun for us.
4. What is estimated response?
First of all, this is about you. We want you to enjoy the show and experience it.
5. How many kavitas will be there?
We estimate at least 40 - 50 kavitas to be there. Half of them will be vinodi kavita. We will shuffle them to maintain the
pace throughout the program. Also there will be two 10 minute breaks where some artists can show their talent.
6. What's next?
We are planning to have Laghu katha, marathi sheroshayari, and other marathi programs too.
But it will be you "Rasik" who can make these things happen.
7. Can I be volunteer?
Please send us how you can help or your ideas.
Kids Kavya Sammelan
1. I have 2 kids? Can they both sing their kavitas?
Yes. They can sing their kavitas.
2. Can I (parent/grand parent) sing the kavitas?
Absolutely. Please sing the kavitas to the kids so they will enjoy it. Also if possible, please provide a nice background for the kavitas
in the form of pictures, drawings etc.
3. What if my kid cries/or is not able to sing it?
We will mute you and one of the organizer will sing/recite the poem.
4. Can I have background music?
Yes, you can have background music. Please supply us with the audio file.
5. Can I send kavita in English?
It has to be in Marathi.
